I’m on my third escape. The first was from the UK to France’s Cote D’ Azur. Beautiful place, but French politics and taxes were never going to work for me.
When it looked like Jeremy Corbyn would lead a Marxist government after the 2019 election, we got our retaliation in first by buying property and gaining residency in the Adriatic resort of Tivat, Montenegro.
Boris surprised us by winning that election, but he and his successors were not much better than Corbyn so in 2021 we escaped a third time to Vilamoura in Portugal’s Algarve. A lot more sunshine, a lot less tax.
